Lisa Oshlack and her company, ‘Moving On’ provided a very valuable service to me in facilitating my father’s move from his apartment. I live in the United States and it was very difficult to organize the move from a distance, especially as I had no other local family members who could assist. Moving On organised everything, from the clearing out of the apartment to selling, donating or discarding furniture and other household items. They also packed, placed labels on all of my father’s clothing. She also arranged for the disconnection of utilities, etc. She solved numerous problems, which I had not even thought about. As well as all of this she arranged for my father’s belongings to be transported to the nursing home and unpacked and organised his room for him. An article about Moving On, ‘Helping People Move On’, caught my eye; in spite of a wrong email address and incorrect phone number I persevered and tracked Moving On down. From the moment I spoke with Lisa Oshlack, I knew that she was the person I had been searching for, not for myself but for my daughter. Having always had an incredibly active and busy life being a doctor as well as a very keen active interest in the theatre, she has over the last 20 years accumulated an amazing amount of books papers, articles, flyers ,theatre tickets and programmes, as well as clothes(many of which were mine), also having lived in New York for many years she also had about 100 unopened boxes all containing her possessions. I had tried everything to encourage her to do a huge clear up and sorting, however only with the wonderful help from Moving On. My daughter has now a very well organised home, everything now has a place, and she has now become much more aware of things she should keep and those she should throw out, many of the items were donated to certain charities. We came into contact with Lisa Oshlack at a time of great emotional stress and upheaval. The task of clearing my husband’s parent’s unit seemed absolutely overpowering and daunting, as we surveyed what had to be done. This is where Moving On stepped in. They took over the task of clearing the unit in conjunction with continuous consultation with both of us, and proceeded to ‘lift the task off our shoulders’, so to speak. From the donating of various goods to charities, to the elimination of what was not wanted, to organising the unit for leasing… and the list goes on. The unit now presents as a sparkling new abode, with everything having been cleaned thoroughly, walls painted, carpets steam cleaned, curtains cleaned, new linoleum on the kitchen floor, and yes…this was all organised by Lisa who is a veritable little dynamo! We would not hesitate to recommend Moving On’s services to anyone who is in the situation of having to ‘move on’. She presents as, and is indeed, a most responsible, reliable and highly efficient young lady who knows her job perfectly. We went to work on the Wednesday morning as usual, and when we came back on Wednesday evening our entire apartment was packed up in boxes. As executor I had responsibility for collecting the assets, clearing her rental property, paying out any claims on the estate and distributing the residue to beneficiaries. Our brief to Moving On was that we needed to clean out the apartment and bring it up to condition that it could be handed back to the landlord, my client had been living there for over 20 years. This had to be done over a period of 8 days before the next rental cheque was due. Moving On did a magnificent job in organising the clean up. Where possible, some items were sold and the remainder was either given to the charity groups or simply taken away by her garbage removal company. After removal of all items, Moving On arranged for a cleaner to clean the apartment and we were able to hand back the keys by the due date and receive the full bond for my client.
